Yoga on the Wall is a soft and steady approach to proper alignment.  We will be using an Iyengar Yoga style of practice which has a firm focus on alignment. B.K.S. Iyengar was the originator of many props that are used in yoga studios today, including the Yoga Rope Wall. Yoga on the wall can bring a fresh perspective to your understanding of the asanas and open up new ways of thinking when moving in your body. Your practice will begin to blossom in a new way as you approach lengthening, strengthening, back bending,  forward bends, twists or inversions. We will ask you to embrace your inner YOGA WALL FLOWER.

One definition of yoga is "the harnessing of one's physical and mental energies in order to revitalize oneself." The actual physical harness of the ropes in their many configurations will help you direct your body and mind toward a state of equanimity and balance.

The Yoga Rope Wall can help you find proper alignment in poses, and find the softness and steadiness that Patanjali speaks of in the Yoga Sutras.

Classes on the Rope Wall will be focused on taking time in several poses to experience the alignment principles, expect little to no flow, but gain a whole new perspective on some of your favorite poses. Learn how to anchor your poses and expand movement.  Be open to the relationship your practice will expand to with the wall and ropes and your body as props for a deeper practice anatomically and energetically.  Iyengar Yoga is the worlds most widely practiced method of yoga he has made yoga accessible and relevant to people everywhere, no matter what their physical or mental ability.  The system of teaching is methodical and progressive, emphasizing detailed correctness and absolute safety.  The Iyengar method has systematically evolved precise postures and breathing techniques with a firm basis in the Yogic philosophy.  When necessary, students use props to progress safely.  Beginners work in a basic way on simple postures according to their capacity.  As a student develops they move on to more refined ways or working as well as to the more complex postures.
